Production - Volume
Total production of raw black coal in Australia in financial year 2007-08 was 421 million tonnes (Mt.), up slightly from 414 Mt. in 2006-07.

After processing, 327 Mt. of black coal was available for both domestic use and for export in 2007-08. Again, only a slight increase over the 325 Mt. produced in 2006-07.
New South Wales and Queensland produced around 97% of Australia's saleable output of black coal, as well as 100% of Australia's black coal exports.
