Dr Nikki Williams

Dr Nikki Williams was appointed CEO of both the Australian Coal Association and the ACA Low Emission Technology (ACALET) Fund Company in November 2011 after seven years as the CEO of the NSW Minerals Council.

Prior to her return to Australia in the late 1990s, Nikki was a senior marketing and business development manager who worked the African, Asian and European geographies with Shell and Exxon operating in the coal, oil and LNG industries.

Nikki has a BA Hons 1st Class in Politics and Industrial Relations and a Ph.D. in International Relations in the field of Terrorism.  She also has longstanding expertise in the area of climate change, energy and industry policy and serves on a wide variety of international and Australian Boards, along with government and university advisory panels. 

Nikki is a member of the Australian Institute of Company Directors and a Director of ACA and ACALET. She has been a Director of Coal Services P/L, a member of the New York Academy of Science, the Centre for Rural and Remote Mental Health Community Advisory Committee, the NSW Government’s Coal and Gas Strategy Reference Group, a Trustee of the $5billion AusCoal Superannuation Fund, the Victorian Government’s Hazardous Waste Consultative Committee, the NSW government’s Ministerial Minerals Advisory Board and Chair of the Federal Government’s Industry Advisory Board for Chemicals.

Nikki is a former member of the World Energy Council, the Fund Board of the International Baccalaureate Organisation and an accredited energy expert with the United Nations Economic Commission for Europe. She is also an ambassador of the Australian Indigenous Education Foundation and the inaugural Patron of the Women in Mining (NSW) Network.
