The Australian Coal Association campaign warning of the consequences of the new tax on coal mines is gaining strong grassroots support in regional Queensland and New South Wales. As part of its campaign, the ACA is visiting the Upper Hunter this week meeting with Councillors and other community members seeking their support to help the community understand the impacts of the Federal government’s proposal. This tax will potentially make some New South Wales coal mines uneconomic and will prevent others from opening, leading to thousands of jobs disappearing in the nation’s coal industry.

The findings of the Frontier economics modelling commissioned by the Coalition and Senator Xenophon show that it is possible to tackle climate change without sacrificing jobs or undermining the competitiveness of Australian industry.
